Biography
George Dyson (1883-1964), the father of physicist Freeman Dyson and the grandfather of scientists George Dyson and Esther Dyson, taught at the Royal College of Music from 1921, becoming its Director in 1937. His compositions include a symphony in G minor, a violin concerto, major choral works, and popular morning and evening canticles for the Church of England. A combat veteran of World War I, he wrote a widely disseminated booklet on the use of grenades.
