Biography
George Jones (1931-2013), considered one of the finest vocalists in country music, ranks second among country music performers in Top 10 hits (only Eddy Arnold has had more). Jones, who won Grammy Awards for Country Male Vocal in 1980 ("He Stopped Loving Her Today", a No. 1 hit) and 1999 ("Choices"), had two No. 1 albums, I'm A People (1966) and Golden Ring (1976), and No. 1 hits with "White Lightning" (1959), "Tender Years" (1961), "She Thinks I Still Care" (1962), "Walk Through This World With Me" (1967), "We're Gonna Hold On" (1973), "The Grand Tour" (1974), "The Door" (1975), "The Golden Ring" (1976), "Near You" (1977), "Still Doin' Time" (1981), "Yesterday's Wine" (1982) and "I Always Get Lucky With You" (1983).
