Biography
GERTRUDE BERG (1899-1966, born Gertrude Edelstein in New York City) was a Tony Award-winning American actress and producer. A radio favorite since 1929, her "Goldberg Family" made its film debut in 1950's The Goldbergs. In the film, she recreated her radio and television role (debuted in 1949) of Molly Goldberg, the firm but gentle matriarch of a Jewish family living in The Bronx. Berg also appeared on Broadway four times and won a Tony Award for her performance as Mrs. Jacoby in A Majority of One (1959-1960).
