Biography
Gilbert Frankau (1884-1952) was a British author of numerous poems, novels and short stories. Many of his poems and other works drew on his experience as a veteran of trench warfare in France during World War I. (He was involved in the horrific battles of Ypres and the Somme and later invalided out for shell shock.) His mother Julia, writing as Frank Danby, and his daughter, Pamela Frankau, were also successful writers.
