GILDA RADNER
Born: June 28, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan
Died: May 20, 1989 in Los Angeles, California
Biography
Gilda Radner (1946-1989) married her co-star, Gene Wilder, with whom she had co-starred in the 1982 film, Hanky Panky. The couple would also appear together in Haunted Honeymoon. A versatile comedienne and actress, Radner appeared on the big screen in a number of films, but was best known for her brilliant comedy sketches. One of the original cast members of NBC's Saturday Night Live, the zany comedienne created such memorable characters as Roseanne Roseannadanna and Emily Litella, and she received the 1977 Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in Variety. Two years later, Radner recorded some of her most popular material for an album, Gilda Radner, Live From New York, which led to a Broadway show and film, both titled Gilda Live.
