Singer GISELE MACKENZIE (1927-2003) had her own radio show in her native Canada in the late 1940s, becoming familiar to American TV viewers as a regular on Your Hit Parade (1953-1957). She had some minor pop hits in the 1950s ("Hard to Get", "Pepper-Hot Baby"). She recorded many albums of popular music, starred on regional theatre stages, and made TV guest appearances into the 1980s. She wrote a song in praise of her adopted home, "My City, L.A.", which became quite popular.
