Biography
Googie Withers (1917-2011) with the perfectly good name of Georgette, appeared in over 60 movies and TV shows between 1935 and 1996, including a recurring role as prison governess Faye Boswell ob Within These Walls (1974-1975). The convent-educated Withers began acting professionally at age 12 as a chorus singer and landed her first film role in 1935's Windfall. She enjoyed her greatest popularity during the 1940s, when she specialized in playing velvet-clawed harpies and had numerous starring roles in films like On Approval (1944), Pink String and Sealing Wax (1946) and It Always Rains on Sunday (1948).
