Biography | show moreshow less
rant (1875-1962) was an American painter. He's probably best known for his maritime pictures, in particular of sailing ships. He was also one of many who lobbied to have the heavy frigate USS Constitution - "Old Ironsides" - be designated a national monument. In 1926, he offered prints of his painting of the USS Constitution to help raise money to preserve her; thousands were sold.
