 Governor John William Brown (1913-1993) was a state politician for 25 years, beginning his political career as Mayor of Medina, Ohio, in 1950. He served two stints as Lieutenant Governor, from 1953-1957 (one term), and from 1963-1975 (three terms). He was briefly the Governor of Ohio after Frank J. Lausche resigned to take his United States Senate seat. Serving only 11 days, he gave the Ohio Historical Society five boxes of gubernatorial papers.
