Hal Sutton (born 1958) was Golf Magazine's 1980 College Player of the Year. Sutton turned pro in 1981and has won 15 tournaments-14 of which were on the PGA Tour. He was named the PGA player of the year in 1983 and won the 1983 PGA Championship. Sutton, along with Kelly Gibson and David Toms raised more than $2 million in aid to Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims for which they received the Omar N. Bradley Spirit of Independence Award (2004) and the Charlie Bartlett Award (2006). In 2007, Sutton received the Payne Stewart Award for his charitable efforts that include the establishment of the Christus Schumpert Sutton Children's Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. He became eligible to play on the Champions Tour in April 2008.
