Biography
Hallam Tennyson (1852-1928), the eldest son of Victorian England's most beloved poet, Alfred Tennyson, became the second Baron Tennyson upon his father's death in 1892. Hallam wrote a biography of his father in 1897. In 1899, Tennyson was appointed Governor of South Australia; he ascended to Governor-General of Australia in 1902. Despite his lack of political experience, he proved a popular Governor-General.
