Biography
Known equally for his social activism, folk-rock singer/songwriter Harry Chapin (1942-1981) gave over 100 benefit concerts a year. By 1976, at the height of his career, Chapin performed in 230 concerts, 130 of which were benefits for charities and organizations he supported. In December 1980, his last hit, "Sequel", from the album of the same name, rose higher on the charts than the original "Taxi". Chapin was working on his 12th album in July 1981, when he was tragically killed in an automobile accident on his way to a concert.
