Jack Sharkey (1902-1994), was heavyweight boxing champion (1932-1933). He defeated Max Schmeling, and is the only man to have fought both Jack Dempsey (1927) and Joe Louis (1936). He retired with a record of 38-14-3, with 13 knockouts. Sharkey toured with baseball great Ted Williams in fly fishing promotions. Asked whether he preferred boxing or fishing, Sharkey replied that boxing paid more, but that the fish don't hit back. He entered the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994, just months before his death.
