Biography | show moreshow less
Singer/songwriter/guitarist James Taylor (born in 1948), has won three Grammy Awards for Best Male Vocal Performance for "You've Got a Friend" (1971), "Handy Man" (1977) and "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" (2001) as well as the 1977 Grammy for Best Pop Album (Hourglass). Taylor's songs have usually been introspective; his first hit single, "Fire and Rain" (1970) recounted his early struggles with drugs and mental illness. Taylor, whose Greatest Hits album went diamond (10 million sales) in 2000, is a member of both the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
