Biography
JEFF CHANDLER (1918-1950), who began his career as a radio actor, made his film debut in 1947. In 1950, he made the first of three performances on the big screen as Apache Chief Cochise in Broken Arrow, earning an Academy Award nomination. Chandler, who was one of the top leading men of the 1950s, died shortly after making Merrill's Marauders (1962) from blood poisoning after spinal surgery. He was 42.
