Biography
Jim Furyk (b. 1970) had only one golf teacher, his dad. Furyk's unconventional swing which has been described as "an octopus falling out of a tree" and "a one-armed man trying to kill a snake with an ax inside a phone booth." The results speak for themselves, however. Through 2012 Furyk has won 16 PGA tournaments, including the US Open (2003), and 10 other pro events, while ranking among the top ten golfers in the world for over 350 weeks. He was the Fed Ex Cup Champion and PGA Player of the Year in 2010. His steady play has earned the nickname "the Grinder." Furyk's caddy is Mike "Fluff" Cowan, previously fired by Tiger Woods.
