Biography
Jimmy Durante was born on February 10, 1893, in New York City and he was an entertainer, famed for his distinctive gravelly voice, prominent nose (earning him the affectionate nickname "Schnozzola"), and unmistakable comedic charm. Durante's career spanned vaudeville, radio, Broadway, film, and television.

Durante began his career as a ragtime pianist and bandleader in the 1920s before transitioning into comedy and acting. He played under the nickname "Ragtime Jimmy" for the Original New Orleans Jazz Band. He quickly gained popularity through vaudeville and Broadway shows, eventually making a successful leap to films with roles in classics such as Palooka (1934), You're in the Army Now (1941), and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963). Durante also appeared on television, Four Star Revue and The Jimmy Durante Show. His stage career included, Show Girl (1929), Strike Me Pink (1934) and Red, Hot and Blue (1936).
