Biography
John Fiske (1842-1901) was an American historian and philosopher and a leading interpreter and supporter of Darwin's theory of evolution, applying it to his optimistic theory of inevitable historical progress. His works include: Darwinism and Other Essays (1879), Excursions of an Evolutionist (1884), and A Century of Science and Other Essays (1899).
