Biography
John Hollander (1929-2013) is a Jewish literary critic and poet. He has written a large collection of poems and criticisms, spanning a half century, from A Crackling of Thorns (1958) to A Draft of Light (2008). Outside of his original work, he is known for translating many other pieces from Yiddish. He was a contributing editor of the Partisan Review and Harper's. He is Sterling Professor Emeritus of English at Yale University.
