Biography
John Ridgeley (1909-1968), known as "Mr. Average Man," was featured mostly in war and other action films. He debuted in Submarine D-1 (1937), and played supporting roles in such World War II dramas as Destination Tokyo and Pride of the Marines. He had prominent roles in two Howard Hawks films: as a gangster in The Big Sleep (1946) and as the commanding officer in Air Force (1947). One of his last film roles was in the SF epic When Worlds Collide (1951).
