Biography
John Travolta was a hit in the TV sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975-1977), then became a cultural phenomenon with the release of the films and soundtracks of Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1978). His Urban Cowboy (1980) gave as big a boost to country music as Saturday Night Fever had for disco.  Travolta's career seemed in decline in the 1980s, but big successes in Pulp Fiction (1994), Get Shorty (1995), Face/Off (1997) and Swordfish (2002) heralded his return as a major American actor. Travolta received Academy Award nominations for both Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction.
