Biography
Kay Starr (1922-2016) began her career at age 7 on the radio in Dallas- at 10 she made $3 a day on her own 15 minute program! At 15 she had her fist contract band contract - Joe Venuti Orchestra and then Bob Crosby and Glenn Miller with whom she made her first recording. Becoming a soloist in 1946, she had her first top 10 in 1949 with "So Tired", "Hoop-de-Doo" in 1950, and "Wheel of Fortune" made No. 1 in 1952. Her only other No. 1 was "The Rock and Roll Waltz" in 1955. Starr continued to tour and record into the 1970s.
