Biography
James Langston Hughes (1902-1967), adapted the rhythms of Black American music to his poetry. Among his best known works are the poem "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" (1921) and the books Weary Blues (1926), Not Without Laughter (1930), The Ways of White Folks (1934) and Shakespeare in Harlem (1942).
