LINDA RONSTADT
Born: July 15, 1946 in Tucson, Arizona
Biography
Linda Ronstadt (b. 1946) had her first big hit, "Different Drum" (1967), with the group Stone Poneys. Her 1974 solo album, Heart Like a Wheel, which featured her hit songs "You're No Good", "When Will I Be Loved", and "It Doesn't Matter Anymore", was the first of her several Platinum-sellers. A sign of her versatility is that she has won eight Grammy Awards dispersed among the musical categories of country, pop, Latin and children's. Ronstadt also starred in a smash-hit Broadway revival of the Gilbert and Sullivan musical, Pirates of Penzance, and its 1983 film version.
