Died: September 27, 1985 in Los Angeles, California
Biography
Lloyd Nolan (1902-1985) would probably have been type cast as a villain had he been less obviously charming. He had his first starring role on Broadway, in One Sunday Afternoon (1933). He originated the role of Captain Queeg on Broadway, too, in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. Then he spent over fifty years in movie roles, including starring roles in G-Men (1935), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), Peyton Place (1957) and Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). Beginning with the title role in Martin Kane, Private Eye (1951), Nolan was also seen often on the small screen.
