Whiting’s professional singing career began in the early 1940s when she signed with Johnny Mercer’s Capitol Records. She quickly garnered fame with hits such as "That Old Black Magic" and "Moonlight in Vermont". In the ensuing years, Whiting remained a constant presence on the radio and charts, delivering a series of successful albums and singles.
