Biography
Actress and singer Marilyn Maxwell (1921-1972) made her stage debut at age three and was singing with bands and on radio while still a teenager. In 1942, she made her film debut inStand By for Action, and she would appear in suchfilms asDu Barry Was a Lady(1943),The Lemon Drop Kid(1951, in which she also sang) andNew York Confidential(1955). Maxwell also guest starred on a number of television anthologies, variety shows and series from 1949-1971. The beauty was well known for her appearances on Bob Hope's USO tours, usually wearing a sweater and singing "I Want to Love You", and she provided afoil to Hope and Red Skelton on their television shows. Maxwell, who was also popular in nightclubs, especially in New York, was married to actor John Conte from 1944-1946 and to screenwriter Jerry Davis from 1954-1960.
