Biography
Belgian poet, dramatist and essayist Maurice Maeterlinck was awarded the 1911 Nobel Prize in Literature for his dramas. Settling in Paris in 1896, Maeterlinck gained his reputation with his Symbolist verse Serres chaudes (1899) and established himself as a leading writer of Symbolist drama with La Princess Maleine (1899), L'Oiseau bleu (1908), Le Bourgmestre de Stilmonde (1918), etc.
