MICKEY HARGITAY (1926-2006), born Miklos Hargitay in Budapest, became a bodybuilder and won the Mr. Universe title in 1955. He then joined Mae West's stage show, where he was seen by actress JAYNE MANSFIELD (1933-1967). Despite West's efforts to break up the couple, they were married in January 1958. The couple made several films together, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1958), The Loves of Hercules (1960, with Hargitay in the title role) and Promises! Promises! (1963). In August 1967, Mansfield died in a car accident en route to a nightclub appearance. In September 1967, Hargitay sued his wife's estate for $275,000 in child support. The couple had three children: two sons and a daughter. Their daughter, Mariska Hargitay became an actress.
