Biography
The Roman Catholic nun, who worked for 68 years in India helping the sick and destitute, established the worldwide Order of the Missionaries of Charity (MC) in 1950. She was awarded the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts. In 1999, Pope John Paul II waived the mandatory five-year waiting period and gave Calcutta's Archbishop the go-ahead to start the process of sainthood for Mother Teresa (1910-1997). Mother Teresa was canonized as a saint in 2016.
