NEW YORK RANGERS
Biography
The New York Rangers are a professional ice hockey team based in New York City. Established on May 15, 1926, the team is one of the "Original Six" early expansion teams of the National Hockey League (NHL), along with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Rangers enjoyed early success, clinching their first Stanley Cup in the 1927-28 season, only their second season of existence. They won their second Stanley Cup in the 1932-33 season and their third in 1939-40. However, a long championship drought followed, with the Rangers not securing another Stanley Cup until the 1993-94 season, a triumphant victory that ended a 54-year wait. Throughout their history, the Rangers have produced numerous Hockey Hall of Famers, including Mark Messier, Brian Leetch, and Wayne Gretzky.
