Biography
Ventriloquist Paul Winchell (1922-2005) and his puppets, Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff, appeared on various shows in the 1960s. An amateur inventor, who had a patent on an early artificial heart, Winchell was the voice of several cartoon characters, including Tigger in Disney's Winnie-the-Pooh films (winning a Grammy for a children's recording as Tigger in 1974).
