Biography
Originally a stage actress with numerous Broadway credits, Frederick (1883-1938) became a star of silent films, as in Smouldering Fires (1925). She played mainly character roles in the talking 1930s, her last film before her death from cancer being Thank You, Mr Moto (1937). As a character actress, she often played intimidating older women like the one she portrays here.
