QUEEN ELIZABETH (GREAT BRITAIN)
Born: August 04, 1900 in St. Paul's Waldenbury, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom
Died: March 30, 2002 in Windsor, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom
Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, known as the Queen Mother, was born on August 4, 1900, in London, England. She served as queen consort from 1936 to 1952 and became one of the most beloved members of the British royal family.
Elizabeth married Prince Albert, Duke of York, in 1923, and had two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. When Albert's brother Edward VIII abdicated, Albert ascended the throne as King George VI, and Elizabeth became queen consort. During World War II, Elizabeth became a symbol of resilience. She and King George VI chose to stay in London during the Blitz, visiting bombed sites and boosting national morale.
After her husband's death in 1952, she became commonly known as the "Queen Mother" to avoid confusion with her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II. She continued her public duties, supporting numerous charities and organizations, and became known for her longevity and lively spirit. Elizabeth was the first British queen consort to reach the age of 100. She died on March 30, 2002, in Windsor, England.
