Biography
Ray Whitley (1901-1979) was an actor and songwriter who played supporting and sidekick roles in many Western movies of the 1930s and 1940s. His last film part was in Giant (1956). Whitley wrote or co-wrote many songs for Western films, including Gene Autrey's signature song, "Back in the Saddle Again." He remained a popular musical performer at rodeos and western film conventions.
