Born: June 18, 1917 in Los Angeles, California
Died: January 10, 1981 in St. Augustine, Florida
Died: January 10, 1981 in St. Augustine, Florida
Richard Boone (1917-1981) starred in many roles throughout his career but is best known as Paladin from Have Gun - Will Travel (1957-1963). The show ran for an incredible 225 episodes. He also appeared in some of the biggest Western films of all time, including Big Jake (1971) and The Shootist (1976). After he proved his popularity after Medic (1954-1956) and Have Gun - Will Travel, he earned the opportunity to star in his own anthology series titled The Richard Boone Show (1963-1964). Towards the end of his career, he made one of his more unique contributions to a production: he voiced Smaug the dragon in The Hobbit (1977), an adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien novel.
