RICHARD CUTTS
Biography
Richard Cutts (b. 1771-1845), a Democratic-Republican from Massachusetts, served six terms in the US Congress (1801-1813). Defeated for re-election in 1812, he was appointed Superintendent of Military Supplies (1813-1817) and Second Comptroller of the Treasury (1817-1829). He was married to Dolley Madison's sister Anna, making him President Madison's brother in law.
