Robert C. Sherriff (1896-1975), commonly known as "R.C.", was a playwright who also worked on film and television productions. His original play Journey's End has had numerous runs on a Broadway Stage, two in Sherriff's lifetime in (1929 and 1939). He worked as a screenwriter on dozens of film productions, including The Invisible Man (1933), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939), and The Dam Busters (1955). Sherriff earned an Oscar nod for Goodbye, Mr. Chips and was nominated for two BAFTA Film Awards in 1956, for The Dam Busters and The Night My Number Came Up (1955).
