Robert Donner was an American television and film actor, born on April 27, 1931, in New York City, New York. Donner's acting career was launched by a chance meeting with Clint Eastwood. The two were playing baseball in a Los Angeles park when Eastwood suggested Donner should consider acting. This led to Donner's first uncredited role in Eastwood's film "Escapade in Japan" (1957).
Throughout his career, Donner appeared in over 100 films and television series. One of his most notable roles was as the intimidating but dimwitted henchman, Mule, in the Eastwood films "High Plains Drifter" (1973) and "The Man with No Name" (1965).
However, Donner is perhaps best remembered for his work in television, particularly his role as the eccentric Exidor in the hit sitcom "Mork & Mindy" (1978-1982), starring Robin Williams and Pam Dawber. His portrayal of the delusional but harmless Exidor became one of the series' most popular recurring characters. In addition to "Mork & Mindy," Donner had notable roles in many other TV series. He played Yancy Tucker on "The Waltons" (1972-1981) and had recurring roles in "Cool Million" (1972) and "Emergency!" (1975).
