Biography | show moreshow less
Robert Parish (b. 1953) played his college ball in obscurity, because his Centenary College was under NCAA sanctions which prohibited his impressive stats from even being published. Still, he led the US national team to a gold medal at the Pan American Games (1975). Drafted by the Golden State Warriors, he was acquired by the Celtics in 1980 in one of Red Auerbach's many shrewd trades. Playing for the Celtic championship teams of 1981, 1984 and 1986, and well as for the champion Chicago Bulls in his final year (1997), Parish scored 23,334 points and grabbed 14,715 rebounds over his career, making 54% of his field goals and 72% of his free throws (a very high percentage for a center).
