Biography
Robert Rockwell (1920-2003) appeared for Republic Pictures beginning in 1948. The following year he was in Red Menace (1949). Rockwell found greater fame on television, however. After an un-credited appearance as Jor-El, Superman's father (1952), and multiple appearances on The Lone Ranger, he began playing his best known role: the handsome but shy biology teacher Mr. Boyington on Our Miss Brooks (1952-1956). Although somewhat typecast thereafter, he remained a frequent TV guest into the early 1990s, with multiple appearances on Perry Mason (1957-1966), Lassie (1954-1974), Diff'rent Strokes (1978-1986), Growing Pains (1985-1992) and Dallas (1978-1991).
