ROBERTA FLACK
Born: February 10, 1937 in Black Mountain, North Carolina
Biography
Roberta Flack's song, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", topped the charts for six weeks in 1969 after it was included in the soundtrack of Play Misty For Me. Her other memorable songs include "Where is the Love?" (a duet with Donny Hathaway), "Killing Me Softly With His Song" (1973, her second #1 hit), "Feel Like Makin' Love" (#1 in 1974) and "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" (1980, duet with Peabo Bryson). Flack's last Top Ten hit was "Set the Night to Music" (with Maxi Priest, 1991), but her romantic, jazz-oriented ballads remain popular on adult contemporary radio.
