Biography
At the age of ten, stage and screen actor Sal Mineo (1939-1976) was cast in the 1951 Broadway production of The Rose Tattoo. At age 13, he took over the part of Yul Brynner's son in The King and I, which ran from 1951 to 1954. By the time he was 22, Mineo had been nominated twice for Best Supporting Actor Academy Awards for Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and Exodus (1960). In 1976, the 37-year-old actor was stabbed to death as he was on his way home from a play rehearsal.
