Biography
American theater magnate Samuel Rothafel (1881-1936), usually called Roxy, gave his name to the theater chain and also indirectly the Rockettes of his Radio City Music Hall, who were initially called the Roxyettes. The son of an immigrant shoemaker, Rothafel was a self-made man, like many of the founders of the film industry.
