Biography
Shelley Berman (born Sheldon Berman in 1926) was the first to win a Grammy for a nonmusical recording and the first standup comedian to appear in Carnegie Hall. A frequent TV guest star with occasional roles on stage and film, he is also the author of three books. His comedy monologues, often spoken into an imaginary telephone, feature ordinary people in frustrating situations.
