Biography | show moreshow less
A writer and regular performer on TV's live Your Show of Shows (1950-1954), comedian Sid Caesar (1922-2014) hosted a series of shows bearing his name for another decade.  He earned an Emmy Award for Best Actor in 1952, and the following year Caesar and Imogene Coca were voted Best Comedy Team in a poll by "Motion Picture Daily". Caesar's autobiography, Where Have I Been? (1979), documents his subsequent struggles with pills and alcohol, but he has continued to appear in cameo roles in films, such as Vegas Vacation (1997). Caesar, who was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor (Musical) in 1963 for Little Me, is also a composer and saxophonist.
