Biography
Bob Charles (born in New Zealand in 1936) has had six PGA Tour victories, including the British Open (1963), which he describes as the greatest thrill of his career, and won 23 Champions Tour championships, including the Vintage Chrysler Invitational, the GTE Classic and the Sunwest-Charley Pride Classic, which he won in 1987, the year he played in this tournament. Charles, who has designed two golf courses (the 18-hole Millbrook and Matarangi, a nine-hole course) in New Zealand, was knighted in 1999.
