Hugh Walpole (1884-1941) wrote the screenplay and appeared as the Vicar in the 1935 classic, David Copperfield. He was also the screenwriter for Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) and is credited as the book or story author for Kind Lady, Vanessa and Vanessa, Her Love Story (all 1935), Mr. Perrin and Mr. Traill (1948) and Kind Lady (1951). He is also known for his Herries Chronicles, which include Rogue Herries (1930), Judith Paris (1931), The Fortress (1932) and Vanessa (1933).
