Biography
Michael Bonallack, born in 1934, was nevertheless inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000 for his lifetime achievements in golf. Bonallack pretty much defined amateur play in England in the 1960s and early 1970s with five wins each on England's Amateur Championship (1961, 1965, 1968, 1969 and 1970) and the English Amateur (1962, 1963, 1965, 1967 and 1968) and claiming leading amateur honors at the 1968 and 1971 English Opens... and all while keeping a full-time sales job in his family business. He was later Secretary of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and was knighted in 1998.
