Thruston B. Morton (August 19, 1907 – August 14, 1982) was an American politician and diplomat, making significant contributions during his tenure in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Morton's political trajectory was set against a backdrop of commitment to public service.

Morton attended Yale University and, after graduating, embarked on a career in the banking industry. However, the call of public service soon beckoned, and he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican in 1947. Representing Kentucky's 3rd district, he served for three terms from 1947 to 1953. In 1956, Morton further advanced his political career by securing a seat in the U.S. Senate, representing the state of Kentucky. He held this position for two terms, from 1957 to 1969. During his tenure in the Senate, Morton was recognized for his active involvement in foreign relations. He was a key figure in the formulation of foreign policies during the critical years of the Cold War. Morton's commitment to the Republican Party extended beyond legislative roles. From 1959 to 1961, he served as the chairman of the Republican National Committee, guiding the party's strategies and operations in the lead-up to the 1960 presidential election.

Beyond the political arena, Morton was appointed as the Assistant Secretary of State for Congressional Relations under President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1956. In this role, he acted as a vital bridge between the State Department and Congress, facilitating effective communication and policy implementation.
